I'm super excited to share with you all my all-time-favorite smoothie recipe! I've been making this smoothie for probably 7 years now, and there's a reason why I keep making it... it's amazing.
It's all natural, healthy, and satisfies a sweet tooth all at the same time (and Lord knows I've always got a sweet tooth to satisfy... I think I need chocolate now...). (I literally just went to get a brownie).
I don't know if any of you relate, but there are two things I'm excited for when I wake up in the morning... coffee and food! You guys with me?? There's just something so nice about waking up and eating something delicious while sipping on my hot cup of coffee. And by the way, if a smoothie is your breakfast, yes, you can and should also have coffee with it.
I put spinach in the recipe because I need my iron levels to stay up in order to donate plasma. You can't taste it at all, though, so whether or not you need more iron I say, "why the heck not??".
I love when I go to bed knowing I've got ingredients for a delicious smoothie or an oatmeal bake in the fridge waiting for me to enjoy when I wake up. Man, are we blessed Americans, or what??
Chocolate peanut butter banana smoothie recipe, here it goes!:
You will need:
* Bananas (I break mine into chunks and freeze them beforehand)
* Coconut milk
* Natural peanut butter
* Spinach leaves
* Cocoa powder
You perfectionists out there may get mad at me, but who really wants to pull out measuring cups and make a big mess of dishes in the morning?? Not me. A dirty blender is mess enough. And so, I don't measure anything! But that's also what's great about smoothies... you don't really need to.
I throw in a handful of spinach leaves, about 7 or 8 of these 1-2 inch chunks of pre-frozen bananas (I'd say that's about 1-1.5 bananas), a spoonful or two of cocoa powder, and 2-3 spoonfuls of peanut butter.
Then pour in coconut milk until it covers everything. It's better to air on the side of two little milk to start than too much. You can always add more if you need.
Blend and, bam. Delicious smoothie.
