How to make one sweet wreath!

A couple girlfriends and I had a wreath making party last night. We made holiday wreaths for not a lot of green! (haha! You see what I did there?)
These wreaths turned out real cute and are so much more affordable than the pre-made ones you can find at the store. Plus, you can make it into a party!

So, you wanna class up your front door with some holiday cheer? Feel like being creative, making something to suit your style and save some cash all at once? Here's how you do it!

We started by buying some wire wreath frames from a craft store along with some ribbon and a couple other little extras. Then we stopped by a roadside christmas tree farm and asked for their extra trimmings. And they just gave them to us- fo' free!

Next, we went picking! We scavanged the neighborhood and our yards for cute berries, plants, twigs, pine cones, etc...

Here are our findings:

The only thing left to do was put it all together. The wire frames were great and were much easier to work with than I expected. The harder part was cutting the tree trimmings down to a workable size, but I'm not very strong. Maybe you are. :)
Anyway, to work the tree trimmings in, we just shoved the end of the stem in between the wires and then weaved the rest in and out around the circle. If it doesn't make sense on paper, I'm sure it will when you have the materials in hand.

Then you get to be creative and add in the special little touches that are so much fun! Here's how mine turned out!
The photo quality isn't great, but I've got dried cotton stems, golden painted pine cones and little sprigs of dried flowers. (Hint: to keep wreath extras held in tight, try floral tape or a thin wire wrapped around a nearby tree trimming stem) And of course the big double layer bow to top it off!
