Ben and I have a sweet little setup in Charleston.
We have the most precious street with the most welcoming neighbors and have been extremely and overly blessed by them. We came here with a goal of loving on them and they just turned around and loved us right back! We couldn't ask for a better neighbor community.
Then there's our cute little house. It's been just perfect for us. The way we even came to call it our home was a miracle in itself, and before moving we had absolutely no idea what we were getting in to. Yet, again, we couldn't be happier.
BUT NOW... Baby Ruhl is on the way!!
And neither of us were crazy keen on the idea of a new baby in a 1 bedroom home. We totally could have made it work- and were even willing to do so- but we wanted that 2nd bedroom for a nursery.
So I started praying.
Like I said, our street has been amazing and nothing in us wanted to leave. (Plus, I finally was going to be a part of the unspoken "new mom club" with all our baby-family neighbors). So for us, it was either make our 1 bedroom home work, or find a house on our street with a second bedroom AND in our price range. The new house idea sounded nice, so that's what I asked God for.
At this time I had just finished reading a book called The Circle Maker by a guy named Mark Batterson. It's all about how the Lord honors our persistent prayers and prayers we make in faith, knowing that He's able to and will answer them. So that was my fuel in this time!
I definitely did not pray to the standard set in The Circle Maker. Ha. I maybe only even asked God for a house a few times, but even with that I believe He honored my prayers. It's sweet how He does that :)
Because out of nowhere one of our neighbors told me about a house that might be available for rent soon, she gave my number to the current tenants who gave my number to the landlord, and in just a few days the landlord called us! I don't know if the landlord reaching out to random people is a normal thing, but I don't think it is!
That night, he asked us to come look at the house - the house that happens to be 5 doors down from the one we're currently in- and it's just perfect! The second bedroom is already set up as a nursery :) It's all wood floors! And there's a front porch!! And a dishwasher!!! AND the house is within our not-large-at-all budget. So many little blessings in one.
Ben had a conversation with the landlord 2 days later, we decided to move forward with the process, and last week we signed the papers. We will be moving in and beginning the set-up of our little one's nursery at the beginning on July. Woo hoo!!
(Plenty of pictures to come soon, I'm sure!)
I'm a firm believer that our Father really loves to bless His kids sometimes. And that He even likes when we simply ask Him for the things we want. That's what this whole thing is to me. Just a big ball of blessings that we didn't need or deserve but that God wanted to bless us with for some reason. And for that I'm thankful.
