Ok y'all. Please just take a second and marvel with me at how awesome these pictures are (not the picture quality, but the content) and how amazing our world is.
Our friend Brittany, Ben and I went to a plantation about an hour from Charleston called Botany bay the other day and took these pictures. I felt like I was in a different world. I had never seen anything like this and to think it's been so close to us all this time!
Seeing all this beauty around me made me think about how amazing our God is for making our world such a creative and AWEsome and beautiful place. He could have just covered the earth with dirt and called it good and we wouldn't have known the difference. But He made it special and intricate because it reflects who He and and how He wanted to bless us.
Then today I was reading some good ole' Ephesians and was crazy encouraged by what chapters 1 and 2 say that God thinks about us.
Here's just some of it:
The same God that designed the ocean scape and tree skeletons and spanish moss and giant sea shells thinks all of this about me...
- I'm chosen by Him
- I'm holy and blameless in His sight (whaattt?!)
- I'm adopted into His family
- He freely gives me His grace
- I'm redeemed by Him
- I'm forgiven by Him
- I was predestined to know Him
- I'm marked with the seal of His Holy Spirit (whoa.)
- I'm near to Christ because of His sacrifice
- I'm given peace because there's no separation between us
- I'm a member of His household
- I am a dwelling in which God lives!!
I mean come on, people. What?! None of this makes any logical sense. Why would these things be true about me? I've done absolutely nothing to have all of this written in my book as truth.
But it's because of what Jesus Christ did that makes it true! It's because He wiped all my crap clean that I can be viewed as holy and blameless in God's sight- even though we all know that I am not holy and blameless. But He says I am. :)
And man, is that sweet or what?!
Oh, and here's a real cute pic of Benny just for kicks :)
